During world war 2, approximately 37 000 Australian became prisoners of war. They were locked up in different countries in Europe, like Austria, Poland and Germany. and not only Europe they also were captured in Asia after the Japanese captured like over 22 000 Aussies. But those prisoners were more in a better situation the the prisoners in Japan, where 36 per cents of the prisoners dies and were forced to be workers. they also faced some serious diseases and beating from the Japanese soldiers
